The J100 has long been an indispensable classic for Amekaji vintage enthusiasts. Its cut is sharp and crisp – slightly slim, with zippered cuffs that can be tightened – making it a true icon of the straight‑zip motorcycle jacket style. This J100 is a carefully detailed reproduction, based on an original BUC jacket. Made from imported Italian horsehide, with rigorous precision cutting to avoid natural blemishes such as uneven grain, loose grain, and scars as much as possible. We strive to make each jacket nearly flawless, using the best parts of the hide – which also results in relatively high material loss.
(Different original BUC J100 jackets use leather with an embossed grain finish, which helps conceal and cover up belly leather, resulting in much higher material yield. Since our customers are relatively more particular about quality, we carefully avoid many undesirable growth marks and loose grain during cutting and production, which leads to lower leather utilization.) Naturally, the production cost is very high, and the retail price is not low either. We are producing only a small batch of a few dozen pieces – hope you like them. Beyond the strict material selection, the hardware and zipper details on this J100 reproduction have also been faithfully recreated to a high degree, with fully custom‑molded zippers that closely match the original. The details are accurately reproduced, and the fit is excellent.
