This 14th anniversary limited edition follows the standard configuration,with each pair individually numbered with a unique serial number on the iner side.
The design features originally developed fabric and incorporates a wide range of rare vintage sewing equipment during production.Each pair is individually crafted by our master sample makers in an exclusive sample workshop,ensuring a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail far beyond that of mass-produced items.The texture and finishes are executed to the highest standard.

It has been 14 years since the brand started.We sincerely thank our longtime customers who have accompanied us throughout this journey.While the denim community often praises fabrics from Okayama,the truth is,over the years,our dyeing R&D and fabric quality in China have already reached a level comparable to Japanese denim.In fact,many Japanese brands now produce their selvedge denim in China and export it to markets like Japan and the US.The reason behind the lingering bias against Chinese selvedge lies in the oversaturation of low-cost selvedge denim in mthe market.Many mass-market sellers prioritize low prices and high sales volume over fade potential and fabric cahracter.They use low-quality raw denim that hardly fades or evolves,yet still market it as "fade-friendly".Over time,customers who try such products fail to achieve satisfying fades,which gradually damages the reputation of Chinese selvedge as a whole.As a result,more and more denim enthusiasts have come to believe that Chinese fabrics are inferior-that they don't fade well or lack depth in color.But the reality is-you just haven,tried Chinese selvedge fabrics that are a made specifically for fading.Sauce Zhan has consistently hosted raw denim fade contests over the years-starting from the 10th anniversary,then the 11th,and currently,the ongoing 13th anniversary edition. Across the internet,you can find numerous impressive fade results shared by wearers,demonstrating the success of our domestic dyeing techniques and fabric development.The evolution in color,texture,and detail speaks for itself.The image below showcases fade examples from our 11th anniversary denim,submitted by participants in the previous contest.
For our 14th anniversary edition,we use a unique 15oz linen cotton blended fabric.The fabric was developed in-house,taking six months to design and create exclusively for this anniversary release.Woven into selvedge denim on imported Belgian antique shuttle looms.Made from high quality long staple cotton and French linen.Features a blue,coarse-grained selvedge is inspired by KUROKI's iconic orange selvedge style.Fabric composition:79% cotton,21% linen.The linen fibers add a hairy texture to the fabric,especially after washing,giving it a fuller,fuzzier feel compared to 100% cotton.By adjusting loom tension,a slightly raised texture has been created on the fabric surface.The warp yarns are dyed with an ultra-deep indigo throush multiple dye vat cycles,resulting in richer,more layered fading over time.The linen fibers also give the yarn a rustic pale yellow tone.To address common wearer concerns about shrinkage and leg twist,the fabric has been pre-shrunk during finishing,significantly reducing shrinkage.To prevent th linen fibers from feeling prickly,the inner side of the fabric has been singed,making it smoother and more comfortable against the skin.This denim is designed to fade with wear,developing unique patterns over time.If you are unfamiliar with raw denim care,we recommened learning basic knowledge before purchasing.
Design Concept:The 14th anniversary edition breaks away from the conventional style of previous years.Coinciding with the Year of the Year of the Horse theme,the stitching and exterior design embrace a more distinctive character.The pants feature a curated combination of imported sewing threads in multiple colors(orange,yellow,cream and silver),along with creayive aesthetic details such as the curved shaping of the front pockets and exquisite wheat-pattern stitching in beige-elements never seen in earlier anniversary editions.
The fabric's hairy texture and surface character are visibly striking to the naked eye.
After desizing,the fuzzy texture of the fabric will become even more pronounced and rich
Design of the Main Horse-Year Button:The main button for the Horse Year design was commissioned from a professional silver jewelry designer.As a jewelry-grade silver main button,its cost-covering labor,design,and handcrafting-is exceptionally high (please respect the design and craftsmanship;its value cannot be measured simply by the weight of the silver).It is made from a piece of 925 silver manually wrapped around a brass base,then carefully polished and refined by hand,resulting in a piece as exquisite as fine jewelry.As the silver oxidizes and darkens over time,the texture and detail of the main button will develop a uniquely distinctive character.The design inspiration for the Horse Year main button comes from the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang,based on the image of a warhouse.It went through countless revisions and refinements-from an initially cartoonish style to the gradually more refined and vivid depiction-before achieving the lively,dynamic representation of the horse seen here.The detailed image below shows a sample version inlaid with 24K gold.The danglu (ancient horse forehead ornament)on the horse's head is made of inlaid 24k gold.This sample may be used in other future products.Please note:The main button on this 14th-anniversary jeans does not contain gold.The danglu element is also made of 925 silver.The entire face of the main button is formed from a single piece of silver wrapped over a brass base.The smaller buttons are made of brass with real silver plating(these are silver-plated and therefore significantly more affordable,helping us keep the overall price reasonable).
The smaller buttons on the jeans are made of silver-plated brass.Unlike the main button,which is fully faced with solid silver,the silver plating on the smaller buttons may gradually wear off with use,revealing the underlying brass color in areas.This is a normal characteristic of the material.Over time,as the hardware oxidizes and ages,the three-dimensional details will become more pronounced and develop a unique,appealing patina.
The leather patch is made of horsehide with preserved horsehair.It is stitched only at the top and bottom edges,allowing a belt to pass through the center.The brown horsehair complements the rustic texture of the linen-cotton fabric,creating a harmonious and timeless aesthetic.
The wheat pattern stitching details were crafted using a highly rare black-head vintage sewing machine.Gunze Japanese imported beige sewing thread was used for the stitching.
Belt Loop Construction:In addition to the raised,padded effect on the belt loops,the lower ends of all belt loops are trucked and secured inside the waistband,as shown in the image below.The same construction applies to all other belt loops as well.
All sewing threads used are imported from Japan.In addition to the being GUNZE Japanese thread,silver thread has also been employed-for instance,the pocket embroidery design combines both silver and beige threads.The silver thread is also a premium Japanese import.
The premium anniversary edition makes extensive use of 1940s-60s black-head vintage sewing machines in its production.To achieve a higher level of detailed craftsmanship,the production pace is slow and raw material costs are exceptionally high.Each pair of pants is assigned a random serial number,which cannot be chosen by the customer.No two numbers are repeated.The numbers are printed sequentially on the inside of the pocket according to the order in which production is completed.
