Must Read Before Buying

Due to the high cost of international shipping, returns are not accepted. Please double-check your size before ordering. Thank you!

To ensure a smooth shopping experience, we recommend contacting our customer service via the online chat on the website for any inquiries, rather than email, as this allows us to assist you more promptly.

The size chart for the product you selected is based on Chinese sizing standards. Due to significant differences in body shapes across countries and regions, the measurements corresponding to sizes S, M, L, and XL in Chinese sizing may vary from those in European or American sizing systems. If you purchase according to your usual size, there may be fitting issues. Therefore, we recommend focusing less on the size guide (S/M/L/XL) and instead referring to the specific detailed measurements in cm provided on the product details page to select the size that best fits you.

Product Description

Newly developed high‑end 12.5 oz broken‑twill selvedge denim with colored neps. Due to low production capacity and meticulous craftsmanship, we are releasing a limited quantity of in‑stock items and pre‑orders.

The jeans feature a subtle combination of various Japanese GUNZE colored threads and silver threads. The brown hairy leather patch (belt‑compatible) adds a vintage touch. The main button is a jewelry‑grade handmade silver button, while the secondary buttons are brass with silver plating.

The fabric has been pre‑shrunk, so shrinkage is minimal. The inseam is expected to shrink about 2–4 cm. Even if the waist, thigh, and hip areas shrink slightly, they will easily stretch back to size with wear. Just make sure they fit properly before washing.

The 2026 Horse Year summer‑oriented high‑end 12.5 oz jeans adopt the same design language as our 14th Anniversary Horse Year series, but we’ve developed a new fabric exclusively for this summer edition, adding more fun and distinctive flair. Leveraging our extensive experience in supply chain and production, we’ve crafted an excellent piece for our fans – made with the rigor and care of creating an artwork, resulting in a truly interesting, distinctive, and outstanding selvedge denim style that fades.

This style is the summer‑oriented version that shares the same design language as our 14th Anniversary series. It features an in‑house developed fabric, crafted using a large number of rare vintage sewing machines. Each pair is individually made by sample room craftsmen – a level of workmanship far beyond assembly‑line products, with every detail and texture pushed to the fullest.

Product Highlights:

1. Broken‑twill with colored neps – better than standard selvedge

2. Handmade silver button – better than brass

3. Silver‑plated secondary buttons – better than brass

4. Japanese silver thread – better than ordinary

5. Gunze Japanese thread – better than ordinary

6. Antique machine sample‑room craft – better than assembly line

7. Hairy horsehide patch (belt‑compatible) – better than cowhide/sheepskin

It's been nearly 15 years since we started this brand, and we're grateful to all our long-time customers who have stayed with us and grown alongside us.

The denim world often praises Okayama fabrics, but over the years, our domestic fabric dyeing development and quality have already caught up with Japanese denim – in fact, many Japanese brands even come to China to produce selvedge denim fabric and then export it to Japan and the US.

The reason why people have always held a bias against Chinese denim is that cheap selvedge denim is everywhere on the market – many volume-driven sellers don't care about fading, don't care about color loss, only pursue low prices and high sales, and use poorly fading or non-fading selvedge fabric to sell under the banner of "fading denim."

Over time, customers couldn't get good fades, and the reputation of Chinese selvedge denim got worse and worse, with more and more fading enthusiasts believing that Chinese fabrics are poorly dyed, can't fade well, and so on.

In fact, it's just that you haven't bought the Chinese selvedge denim that was specifically made for fading.

Sauce Zhan has held multiple fading competitions – from the 10th Anniversary, 11th Anniversary, and the current 13th Anniversary – and you can find many great fade photos from participants across the internet, proving the success of our current domestic dyeing technology and fabric development.

The fading effect, texture, and details are all very good.

Below are fade photos from our 11th Anniversary competition participants from the previous competition.

The Horse Year summer version uses a 12.5 oz weight.
Such a weight won't be too hot in summer, and can also be worn in autumn.
It is positioned as relatively lightweight within the selvedge denim community.
The fabric is developed in-house.
For this style, we prepared the fabric design and development plan five months in advance.
As a high-end style, we ensure that the fabric of every product is thoughtful, distinctive, and unique.
It is a selvedge fabric woven on antique looms imported from Belgium, made of 100% high-quality long-staple cotton, with a light silver selvedge edge.
The fabric abandons the common left-hand or right-hand twill weave, and uses the rare broken twill technique.
This gives it a different texture detail from common denim fabrics, and it won't cause leg twist.
The cotton fibers are very long, giving a very rich hairy texture, especially after washing when the fuzz becomes even more pronounced.
In addition to the unique broken twill weave, we have added some colored accent fibers to the yarns, making the fabric more unique and design-oriented.
Up close, you can see scattered neps of various colored fibers.
The warp yarns are dyed with extra-deep indigo, with increased dyeing cycles, to create richer and more layered fading effects.
In order to accommodate most enthusiasts' concerns about shrinkage and leg twist, this style has been pre-shrunk in finishing, so the shrinkage rate is not that large.
And the broken twill construction avoids leg twist.
After washing, the fabric will become even more vintage and textured.
This fading selvedge denim style will develop its own fading patterns with wear.
If you are not familiar with fading denim, please first learn the basics of selvedge denim before purchasing.

Style design: Because it happens to coincide with the Year of the Horse theme, we wanted the stitching and appearance to be more distinctive. The entire pair of jeans not only uses a combination of imported sewing threads in multiple colors (orange, yellow, beige, and silver), but also features many creative touches in the design – such as the curved shape of the front pockets, and the very delicate beige wheat‑ear stitching, which have never been seen in previous anniversary styles.

The fabric's hairy texture and weave can be clearly seen with the naked eye.
Colored nep fibers are used as accents.
After desizing, the fabric's hairy texture will become even richer.

The main button of the Horse Year design was commissioned from a professional silver jewelry designer. The labor cost, design, and handmade production of this jewelry-grade silver main button are all very expensive (please respect the design and craftsmanship, and do not judge its value by the silver weight per gram). It is a piece of 925 silver manually wrapped over a copper base, then refined through hand polishing and finishing, as delicate as jewelry. As the silver oxidizes and darkens, the texture of the main button will become very unique. The design inspiration for the Horse Year main button comes from the Terracotta Warriors of Qin Shi Huang. It was developed and made based on the image of war horses, and went through countless revisions and adjustments – from a cartoonish look at the beginning to a gradually more handsome and spirited appearance, until the lively and vivid image of the horse was finally sculpted. The large image below shows a sample piece with 24K gold inlay – the "danglu" (forehead ornament) on the horse's head is made of 24K gold. This sample may be used for other styles. This jeans' main button does not contain gold; the "danglu" position on the main button is also made of 925 silver. The entire face of the main button is made by wrapping a piece of silver over a copper base. The small buttons are brass with genuine silver plating (the plated small buttons are much lower in cost, in order to keep the retail price from being too exaggerated).

The small buttons on the jeans are made of brass with silver plating. Unlike the main button, which is solid silver, the plated silver surface is more prone to wear. With wear, the silver plating on the small buttons will gradually rub off, revealing some of the brass underneath – this is normal. As they oxidize and age with wear, the three-dimensional texture of the hardware will become even stronger and better looking.

The leather patch is made of horsehide with horsehair. The stitching only sews the top and bottom edges, and the middle allows a belt to pass through.

The wheat‑ear stitching details are made using very rare black‑head antique sewing machines.
Using imported Japanese Gunze beige sewing thread.

The belt loop structure design: aside from the belt loops having a raised effect, the bottom ends of all belt loops are tucked into the inside of the waistband, as shown in the image below. The belt loops in other positions are also done the same way.

All sewing threads are Japanese-made imported threads. Besides the Japanese-made GUNZE, silver stitching is also used, for example, the back pocket stitching is a combination of silver and beige. The silver thread is also imported Japanese-made.

The high-end styles use a large number of 1940s–1960s black-head vintage sewing machines in production, in order to pursue more refined craftsmanship details. Production speed is slow, and the raw materials are very expensive.

Very rare, newly acquired 1950 SINGER antique black‑head machine.
Added delicate stitching details.
