SAUCE ZHAN's 2021 newly developed heavyweight double-dyed fabric. The processing cost alone for this 20.5oz heavyweight product is 2.5 times that of 14oz denim. Moreover, the fabric itself is also heavyweight and double-dyed, with overall costs far exceeding those of regular lightweight selvedge denim. It is produced on old-style antique looms, designed for denim fading enthusiasts, features excellent dyeing, and represents an original, thoughtfully crafted domestic product.
SAUCEZHAN has a strong reputation on Instagram, and its double-dyed series is highly popular overseas. We are consistently striving to refine our products, address our shortcomings, and promote denim culture.
The SAUCEZHAN "Spirits of Nature" series, originating from late 2013, was one of the brand's earliest designs and a pioneering product in China's early double-dyed denim movement. This series was immensely popular among fans at the time. After it sold out, it was never restocked, yet it continues to generate significant customer interest.
After SAUCEZHAN initiated its original fabric development plan in 2021, it invested significant resources in researching and upgrading its proprietary fabrics. This included updating the materials for the Ocean, Volcano, Forest, and Desert series from that year. Specifically, the Ocean series received a separate product design upgrade, with the leather patch design showing significant differences from the old version. The new fabric weighs a substantial 20.5 oz, making it a very heavy double-dyed material. It uses pure indigo dye without added sulfur black for toning, resulting in a clearer, cleaner blue fade.
The new Heavyweight Volcano series adopts the highly popular EX316XX straight cut from our store. Compared to the standard 316XX, it features a slightly deeper rise of 2-2.5cm, offering a comfortable, straight-leg fit. The zip fly design adds practicality and convenience.
The double-dyed fabric differs significantly from the old version in terms of warp yarn density and weaving technique, as shown in the image above. The old version had more exposed base color due to its yarn arrangement, resulting in a more pronounced front-side coloration. In contrast, the new version minimizes base color exposure, creating a darker, more subdued appearance that is less flashy. The weft yarns are reactively dyed.
All hardware and leather patches have been redesigned. The back pockets are reinforced with hidden rivets, ensuring durability and long-lasting wear. After fading, the fabric reveals a clear,delicate blue hue, promising exceptionally beautiful and refined fading over time.
